Wordplay 

Run by Shetland Arts, Shetland's annual Book festival is held on the first weekend of September and features a variety of events for children and adults: readings, book signings, talks, book launches and workshops in creative writing as well as a chance to browse round a variety of book stalls. Over the ten years it has run so far we have been delighted to welcome writers such as Iain Banks, Will Self, PD James, Debi Gliori, Julia Donaldson, Kevin MacNeil, Choman Hardi, Jen Hadfield, Louis de Bernieres, Adrian Mitchell, John Hegley,Iain Rankin, James Robertson, Christopher Reid, Christine De Luca, Robert Alan Jamieson - to name just some of the many - and the 2011 edition of the UK's most northerly literary festival included appearances from Liz Lochhead, James Naughtie, Andrew Greig, Mark Kermode and Simon Armitage.
